Ocean Edgewater LLC ("SmartPews", "we", "us") operates the SmartPews parish bulletin board platform at smartpews.com. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

When you create an account (via Google OAuth or email), we collect:

  • Name (from your authentication provider)
  • Email address
  • Profile picture (if provided by your auth provider)

Content You Post

When you create listings or messages, we store:

  • Post content (title, description, category, price, tags, images)
  • Messages sent to other users
  • Endorsements and bookmarks
  • Parish affiliation

Automatically Collected

  • IP address and approximate location (for "Near me" parish search)
  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages visited and actions taken (via Google Analytics)
  • Cookies for session management (authentication)

  • To operate and improve the Service
  • To display your name on posts you create (visible to your parish community)
  • To facilitate messages between users

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. Deleted posts are soft-deleted (marked as removed) and permanently purged within 30 days. Messages are retained for 90 days after the associated classified expires. You may request full account deletion at any time by emailing [email protected].

You have additional rights including data portability, restriction of processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing is your consent (account creation) and legitimate interest (platform operation).

SmartPews is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.   • Authentication cookies — Required. Maintain your login session. Cannot be disabled.
  • Locale preference — Stores your language preference (en/es).

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), row-level security in our database, and secure authentication via Supabase. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
